Academy delighted with selection of nine players for Victory Shield squad

Linfield Football Club would like to both recognise and congratulate the Nine Academy players who have been selected to represent Northern Ireland during the U16 Victory Shield which is being held in Belfast from 17th-22nd October 2021. As an Academy, our aim is to improve our young players allowing them the opportunity to grow as Elite players and this is a tremendous achievement for the boys and their families. Five of the Nine players are current U16 and U18 players who are coached and mentored by Rangers coach Michael Gault and Swifts coach David Dorrian, they are;

Cormac Austin
Jay McDowell
Bobby Harvey
Joshua Briggs
The remaining Four players are members of our very successful U15 squad which proud coaches Darren Devlin and Gareth Dempster have developed for many years, they are;
Cole Brannighan
Blaine McClure
Callum Burnside
Callum Cowan
Academy Director Glenn Ferguson commented on the boys achievements in saying, "At the Academy our coaches work day and night to provide positive coaching experiences to our young players and facilitate a platform allowing them all to develop as responsible young men. We are all very proud of the nine boys who have been selected to participate in this famous tournament. We wish them all our sincere best wishes and hope that they enjoy every minute, good luck to all of the LFC players who are involved".
Should you wish to offer your support to the boys, their first game is at Seaview versus Wales on Sunday 17th October with a 3pm Kick-Off.
