Win for Linfield U14s
On Wednesday evening, 29th December 2021, Linfield u14s took on Loughgall U14s in a National League game at New Midgley Park in which the young Blues ran out 6-0 winners.
Goals from Céadach O'Neill (3), Harry Allen (2) and Oliver Wade made it two wins from two league games for the young Linfield side with a great team effort from the boys.
The first ten minutes was a tense affair, with Loughgall starting the game well but without causing the Linfield team too many problems.
Céadach O'Neill settled any early nerves with a brilliant strike from 25 yards to open the scoring and then got his and Linfield's 2nd of the night shortly before halftime.
The young Linfield team continued to press for more goals, but the halftime whistle arrived with the score at 2-0.
The 2nd half brought a change of shape for the young Blues, who started the 2nd half strongly and became more dominant as the game went by, keeping their opponents pegged back for much of the half through sheer hard work with some excellent passages of play.
Loughgall worked extremely hard to contain the young Blues and thought they had pulled one back with a fine strike against the run of play which, unfortunately for them, was ruled out for offside.
Linfield responded a few minutes later when Oliver Wade got a 3rd with a fine finish after some excellent build-up play.
Shortly afterwards, Harry Allen converted a deep cross with an excellent headed finish to put the young Linfield side four up and then added his second and Linfield's fifth with a superb strike from the edge of the box into the far top corner.
Céadach O'Neill then completed his hat trick to finish the scoring with a fantastic curling effort from the edge of the box into the top corner in the dying minutes.
Overall, a very impressive hardworking team display from the u14s as they move on to their next match, a 1st round tie in the National League Cup vs Castle Juniors on Saturday 8th January.
