More success for Linfield on Day 2.
Minor Section (U13)
Linfield 2 – 2 Finn Harps
The young Blues dominated possession in the 1st half and deservedly led at the break through a 25 yard thunderbolt from Zack White.
A change of formation saw Finn Harps come more into the game and it was soon 2-1 in their favour, with Linfield facing an uphill battle.
Substitutes Cameron Maciejewski Healy and Sonny Trainor combined for the latter to equalise with a header from 8 yards, and try as they might, a winner was not forthcoming and the draw was probably a fair result.
Youth Section (U14)
Newcastle City 0-1 Linfield
This game was played at a frantic pace with Harry Allen carrying on where he left off on Day 1 by opening the scoring in the 1st half. A long range free kick from Ceadach O’Neill was deflected off the Newcastle wall and, following an almighty scramble, Allen hammered the ball over the line before producing a fitting celebration.
The second half saw no further goals and the result maintained the Blues’ 100% record.
Girls U13
Crusaders 1-4 Linfield
Linfield Ladies 2009 side came under early pressure and Crusaders took a deserved lead after 15 minutes. However, the Wee Blues fought back and it was 2-1 in their favour by half time, both goals from Grace McAllister.
Crusaders threw everything at the Linfield defence at the start of the 2nd half but goalkeeper Maddison Bell prevented an equaliser before Cassie Henderson made it 3-1 on her debut. Captain Charlotte Havern sealed the win with a low shot into the bottom corner and was later presented with the winners’ trophy in the competition’s inaugural year
