2022 SuperCupNI
Minor Section (U13)
Having defeated Greenisland in the semi-final of SuperCupNI Globe, the opposition in the decider at Broughshane was Dublin side Belvedere.
After a slow start, the game came to life when Jack May was fouled inside the box and the young striker picked himself up to fire the penalty kick high into the net.
The second half saw the young Blues frustrate Belvedere but as the game wore on, the Dubliners grabbed an equaliser through their big striker, and shortly afterwards the same player made it 2-1 when he ran on to a through ball to beat goalkeeper Max Sykes.
A third goal followed, which was harsh on Linfield who, nevertheless, gained great experience and memories from the tournament.
Youth Section (U14)
A strong Charlton Athletic side beat Linfield U14s in the semi-final so their final game of SuperCupNI 2022 was a 3rd/4th place play off.
Surf Select (USA) started well but by half time The Blues were 3-0 ahead thanks to goals from Scott Hamilton, Dylan Fitzsimmons and Harry Allen.
Into the second half and Allen scored again before Surf scored a penalty to make it 4-1. Fitzsimmons grabbed his second of the game as Linfield ran out worthy winners.
4 wins out of 5, 14 goals scored, only 2 conceded and lots of positives to take from the week.
Girls U13
Having beaten Cliftonville to progress to a final with Crusaders, Linfield Ladies 2009 side were 0-1 down early on before a brace from Grace McAllister meant it was 2-1 in The Blues favour at half time.
Goalkeeper Maddison Bell prevented an equaliser before Cassie Henderson and captain Charlotte Havern sealed the win, Charlotte picking up the winners’ trophy.
