The Linfield 2010s kicked off their SuperCup campaign with a 3-0 victory
over Warrenpoint at Anderson Park.
The young Blues started the game really
and didn't let Warrenpoint get into the game in the early stages and after a
couple of missed chances, we took the lead when Cameron Kennedy hammered a
loose ball home after some neat play by Corey McCartney.
The same
player (Cameron Kennedy) doubled our lead when he followed in to finish off
Alex McLatcheys shot which had hit the underside of the crossbar.
After some
near misses in the second half from some excellent play, Alex McClatchey’s
fierce drive was adjudged to have crossed the line after he again thundered
the ball off the underside of the crossbar.
A good win and performance to start the week.
After the game the lads were visited by the one and only Oscar winning actor
James Martin. James was very complimentary about how the boys played and
congratulated them on their performance. James was also keen to offer some
advice for life, telling the boys to believe in themselves and follow their
dreams.
The young Blues now take on IDA Bermuda today (Tuesday) at the Raida
stadium with an 11 o'clock kick off.
