2010s SUPERCUP MATCH DAY 5

The wee Blues travelled to Castlerock on Friday to take on Glentoran 2010s in their final game of this years Supercup.

In what was a very entertaining game, we thought this was probably the best performance of the week. Although eventually losing the game 1-0, on the balance of play we should have at least got a draw out of the game.

With a slight breeze at their back in the first half, the wee Blues came close on a few occasions. The industrious Cameron Kennedy took the ball round the Glens’ Keeper but was just too wide and when he tried his luck, the ball just went past the far post. Zach Lowry also had a great effort from around 25 yards which was flying in, only for young Phoenix Blayney in the Glentoran goal to make a fantastic save.

The Glens then scored their goal from a high effort which unfortunately, was just out of the reach of Matthew Belshaw in the Linfield goal.

Half time 0-1

The second half was another evenly contested match up, with both teams having some chances but neither team were able to convert any of the chances that were created. It was a great effort from both teams after what was a long testing week for the boys and both sets of players deserve credit for putting on a good performance on the last day.

We would like to thank all the boys for their efforts over the course of the week. Their attitude, behaviour and effort was top drawer. After speaking to the boys, they all enjoyed their experience of the Supercup and hopefully, will have memories that they can look back on. Finally, I would like to thank all the parents, grandparents and family members who turned up every day to give the boys their support. An enjoyable week was had by all.

Final score 0-1
