Nicole Adams - "amazing to reach 3 cup finals in one season"

Posted : 20th August 2013

Linfieldfc.com spoke to Linfield Ladies' Northern Ireland Under 19 international goalkeeper Nicole Adams (on loan from Arsenal) after her Linfieldfc.com Player of the Match display in last night's dramatic IFA Coca CoIa Cup semi-final victory.

"It was a nerve wrecking penalty shoot out. Ashley, the Glentoran goalkeeper is a Northern Ireland goalkeeper as well and I don't think either of us could look at each other, we were that nervous. I don't know who was the more nervous but in penalty shoot outs, it's all pot luck really and luckily, we managed to just edge it. We showed great character to come away with this win tonight and we had to really work hard for the win but it's a great feeling.

I'm delighted to have made the 2 penalty saves but it really is all down to luck on the night. There were a few well struck penalties that I had no hope with but it's just great that we managed to win in the end. The girls are all buzzing.

Our girls did really well to score the 7 penalties. Every one of the girls showed real courage to step up and take the penalties. They did great and we're just delighted that luck was on our side tonight.

It's amazing to think we've beaten Glentoran twice in a couple of weeks. It's just fantastic and it just shows what's possible with hard work, confidence and belief. Tonight's result shows that our cup final win the other week was no fluke.

These 2 results against Glentoran show what we can do and what we're capable of but we want to build on this and go on from strength to strength. It's amazing to reach 3 finals in one season when we haven't experienced this before but we're really enjoying this great run we're on and hopefully, we can keep it going.

The Glens were probably the better side for the last 25 minutes of the first half but we dug in and defended really well when we needed to.

We want to go and win the League cup and Irish cup but we know that Crusaders and Glentoran will be favourites and make things very difficult for us. However, we have great belief and our confidence is growing all the time.

The team spirit and togetherness among all the girls here is unreal and we'll give it our very best shot."
