Johnny Tuffey delighted with last night's vital victory

On the day when Linfield FC paid it's respects to a goalkeeping legend of yesteryear, Linfieldfc.com spoke to the current holder of the goalkeeping jersey, following last night's hard fought but crucial win at Windsor Park.

"That was definitely a hugely important win for us. It was a fantastic result for us. We showed great character to fight back after going a goal behind. There really is evidence of resilience within the squad and the team spirit is great, so we kept going and we got ourselves back in the game, getting the result we wanted in the end.

Mark Haughey has popped up with another massively important winning goal for us. He has close ties with Glenavon, as he used to play there but he's a Linfield man now and I know he'll be delighted to have scored such a vital goal that has taken us back to the top of the table. We're all delighted tonight with that great result after such a hard fought battle out there.

The conditions out there tonight with the wind and the rain were awful for both teams. Unsurprisingly, the goal mouths cut up badly such was the amount of rainfall but I thought both teams gave it their all and produced a really entertaining game. We're just so glad to have got the 3 points at the end of the night.

It's been a huge weekend with 2 important wins for us in quick succession. They were 2 big games and 2 tough tests. You have to give Glenavon credit tonight. They came here and really had a go. Our boys stood up well to a tough challenge and for us, it's been 2 big, big wins within a matter of a couple of days.

I was obviously pleased with my save at an important time before the half time break at the Oval on Friday night. I had made a couple of mistakes and I'm just glad to be able to do my bit, to help the team hopefully go on and finish the season strongly. Thankfully, the boys in front of me have been able to do the business over recent games and the mood in the camp is really positive. We're all in the team to do our job, to try and help the team get 3 points in each game and I just want to make my contribution, so that the team can hopefully be successful.

We've now got a few days to recharge the batteries after a hectic but productive period. We'll have a few days rest before we get back to training on Thursday and Saturday and come next Tuesday nights cup final up at Ballymena, we'll all be raring to go again."
