Mark McAllister discusses recent games

Posted : 26th February 2014

Mark McAllister spoke to Linfieldfc.com following Monday nights victory at Windsor Park.

"I was over the moon when I read on Linfieldfc.com that I was making my 200th appearance for Linfield in last week's home game with Ballinamallard. It's an absolute privilege to have played so many times for a club of this stature. I didn't know I was reaching that landmark and it was good that we marked the occasion with a vital win and 2 more wins since then. I just hope there are a good few more appearances to add to that figure of 200.

We've been delighted with the 3 wins in a row to bounce back from the Ballymena defeat. With the weather conditions in Friday and Monday nights games, they weren't maybe the prettiest of games to watch or even play in but we've dug deep and they were the sort of games we maybe wouldn't have won last year, so we're delighted at the progress that has been made. Last year we'd have maybe struggled and got beaten in one or two games like the ones over the weekend past but there's real strength and determination within the squad lately and that has seen us through those difficult games over the past few days. The weather conditions in both the Glentoran and Glenavon were really poor and we're delighted with these hugely important wins.

I'm delighted for Mark Haughey popping up with a huge winner for us against his old team tonight. It's the second time he's come up trumps with a massive comeback winning goal for us, after that bullet header he produced in injury time down at Warrenpoint last month. It's an important winning goal for us against a really good Glenavon team but there's a long, long way to go in this title race. We'll not get carried away and we'll just continue to look no further ahead than the next game and hopefully, come the end of the season, we'll give our supporters something to cheer about.

We've a bit of a rest now, although to be honest, we all wish we didn't have the rest, as we all wish we were looking forward to an Irish Cup quarter final on Saturday. We'll train hard on Thursday and Saturday and we'll ensure we're ready for a big cup final on Tuesday night up in Ballymena."
