Oxford United have now confirmed that agreement has been reached with Joel Cooper for him to join them upon the opening of the transfer window and once the international clearance formalities have been completed in the coming week.
Agreement had been reached between the two clubs in the past few days for the transfer to proceed for an undisclosed fee and Joel has today agreed terms with the League one club who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship in the Wembley play off decider.
Joel joined Linfield two years ago from Glenavon and he scored 21 goals for Linfield in his 81 appearances (5 as sub). He helped Linfield win the Irish Premiership title in both of his two seasons at the club.
Linfield manager David Healy wanted to take the opportunity to wish Joel well in the challenge that awaits him.
"I want to thank Joel for the major contribution he made to our successes over the past couple of years. He was a brilliant lad to work with and he was a very popular player both in the changing room and with our supporters as well.
His consistent and excellent performances in our team have earned him this exciting move to Oxford and we all want to wish him every success and happiness as he embarks on this next important chapter in his football career.

Joel has made a significant contribution to our recent successes, not only in scoring some memorable goals but also in creating chances for others. He will be sorely missed but our priority now is to strengthen the squad ahead of our challenges ahead in Europe and in the new domestic season.
