David Healy - “delighted to announce signing of Christy Manzinga”
Posted : 1st August 2020
David Healy announces news of the second of today’s new arrivals as the transfer window opens.
“I’m delighted to advise our supporters that 25 year old Christy Manzinga has today joined us on a 2 year contract, subject to the international clearance formalities.
He’s a player who we’ve tracked for quite a while and he looked really impressive when he joined us for training on Thursday night,
He’s a French National who’s played for clubs in France and Belgium and he spent last season with Motherwell in Scotland.
Last season we brought in Rohan Ferguson from Motherwell and we are hoping that Christy will do as well for us as Rohan did last year.
I am in regular contact with Stephen Robinson, the Motherwell manager and he speaks very highly of Christy as a player and an individual.
Christy had other options ahead of the upcoming season, so it’s great that he has chosen to sign for us.
He’s a big strong lad who can play in several striking positions and Gary Eccles our kit manager advises me that he will assume the special number 9 squad shirt.
I know our supporters will make Christy welcome when they get a chance to see him in action, hopefully in the not too distant future.
We are hopeful that the necessary international clearance will come through in time for Christy to make the squad for next week’s Champions League game against the champions of San Marino.”
