Billy Kennedy, Linfield honorary vice-president and former Linfield vice-chairman, has expressed his sadness at the passing of Morton McKnight, the former Irish League president and past chairman of Lisburn Distillery Football Club and formerly a Newry Town director.
"Morton gave great service to Irish League football over a period of four decades and was a very capable League president and as Lisburn Distillery chairman, he was always most hospitable and welcoming when Linfield played at Ballyskeagh. Indeed, Morton a Whites' supporter from the Grosvenor Park years, always gave Linfield great respect as the League's most successful club, but he was also respectful and caring for the other League clubs. He was a genuine football man whose primary aim was for the good and welfare of our senior game," said Billy.
