Windsor Park has not been a happy hunting ground for Dungannon Swifts FC as the County Tyrone men make their way up the M1 to take on the reigning Danske Bank Premiership Champions.

In the previous meetings so far this season, Linfield have come out on top on both occasions winning 3-0 and 6-1. You have to go back to 2018 for the last time the Swifts picked up anything against Linfield, a 0-0 draw at Windsor Park.

The Swifts will be looking to get something out of the game today, as their safety is still not guaranteed. Sitting in ninth position in the league, 16 points clear of bottom placed Warrenpoint Town and only six points clear of Portadown who currently sit in the relegation play-off position, this afternoon’s game is hugely important in their quest to stay in the Premiership.

Linfield on the other hand, will be looking to maintain and extend their lead at the summit of the Danske Bank Premiership so for them, this afternoon, nothing but three points will suffice.

In his first full season in charge, Swifts boss Dean Shiels has seen his side play attractive, expansive, attacking football which has seen its fair share of goals but the Swifts’ downfall this season is the ‘goals against’ column but with the recent addition of Bilel Mohsni, along with the January acquisition of Garry Breen and the returning Dylan King, the defensive options have been bolstered.

With both teams still having a lot to play for this season, this afternoon's match should hopefully live up to its expectations of attractive football and goals.

All at Dungannon Swifts wish Linfield FC well in the final stint of the season.
