Statement from Linfield Football Club

Posted : 7th April 2022 at 19:19:18

As everyone at Linfield Football Club looks forward to Saturday's huge Danske Bank NIFL Premiership game against Cliftonville at Solitude, we want to remind all those attending that, whilst we very much welcome your support, it’s vital that such support respects everyone at the game and complies with the stadium (and football's governing authorities') regulations.

It has been hugely disappointing that at several games this season, there have been a minority in attendance whose behaviour has tarnished our Club. Despite warnings ahead of, and following these games, in particular regarding the use of pyrotechnics, some have still chosen to bring them, causing distress to many, while a small group have had preference to engage in singing songs and chants that have no relevance whatsoever to Linfield FC, nor indeed football.

If it is your intent to engage in any of these activities while purporting to be a Linfield supporter, be under no illusion, you are not, and your attendance is not wanted at Saturday's match, or any other match for that matter.

Cliftonville FC and Linfield FC have cooperated closely together on numerous occasions for the mutual benefit of both our clubs and this club would encourage all supporters to cooperate fully with the personnel involved in implementing the safety, stewarding and security arrangements that have been put in place for this eagerly anticipated top of the table fixture.

Be under no doubt that this Club will again be held liable should there be any reoccurrence of various incidents of unacceptable behaviour among our support, as we were for several well publicised incidents earlier this season, when significant and unwelcome fines were imposed on the Club.

All at Linfield, and in particular our players, want Linfield supporters to be loud and sing Linfield songs proudly. So please get behind the team in a positive, non offensive manner on Saturday and help ensure that everyone can enjoy the occasion.

Stay Blue or Stay Away.

Come on you Blues.

The club would like to introduce our new campaign of ‘Stay Blue or Stay Away’.

Following a series of regrettable incidents during this season, it is important that we all get behind our team and club in a positive, non-offensive and traditional Linfield manner. We do not want the club to face further sanctions or individual supporters to face criminal proceedings so let’s ensure we all keep it Blue.
