Pleasing 2-0 wins in the past week against Loughgall and Crusaders have placed Linfield on top of the Premiership table. While it's far too early in the season to be getting carried away, hopefully recent results and performances can breed confidence and build momentum as the club approaches further vitally important games today and in the weeks ahead.
A warm welcome to Windsor Park to the players, management, staff, directors and supporters of Newry City FC. The South Down club have won two, drawn one and lost six of their nine Premiership games to date and will be battling for vital points to try and move away from the foot of the league table.
A similar warm welcome is also extended to the personnel of Queen's University FC for the opening game in Linfield's defence of the BetMcLean NIFL League Cup trophy which Linfield won last season.
The Matthew Clarke Testimonial season is underway and supporters are encouraged to support the various fundraising efforts which are being arranged over the course of the season. Tickets have been on sale for the Europa Hotel gala dinner on Saturday October 14, featuring former Rangers players, Alex Rae and Charlie Miller.
Kirk Millar’s next game will be his 400th first team appearance for this club.
Three upcoming Linfield games have been moved to Friday nights to be broadcast live by BBC. The games are home to Glentoran on October 6, away to Cliftonville on October 20 and away to Glentoran on December 1.
Online Match tickets for the BetMcLean Cup game against Queen's University on October 3 and the Premiership game at home to Glentoran on October 6 are available from this club's official website.
Linfield FC Women will play Lisburn in a Sports Direct Premiership game at New Midgley Park on Wednesday October 4. The season will conclude with away games against Mid Ulster on October 9 and Glentoran on October 13. Linfield's Keri Halliday scored the winner for Northern Ireland under 19s in their 1-0 friendly win against the Republic of Ireland at the Blanchflower stadium last weekend.
Congratulations are extended to the players and staff of Linfield FC Women Swifts who in midweek won the Electric Ireland Academy League title and who will be presented with their trophy at half time in the midweek game against Lisburn at New Midgley Park.
Members and season ticket renewals in all the various categories can be processed via the online ticketing section of the club website. In line with the club rules, membership must be renewed by the end of September, or otherwise it will be deemed to have been forfeited.
The red away shirt worn in Loughgall and Coleraine has proved popular with supporters and can be ordered from the Online Superstore. The red shirt will also be worn at the Newry away game.
The 53rd Anniversary of Linfield's 2-1 home 1970 European Cup winners' cup win against Manchester City on this September 30 date is marked in an article in this issue of 'Look at Linfield'.
Supporters are encouraged to donate generously to an official collection in aid of the club's partner charity - the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice - before the Glentoran game on October 6.
Congratulations to promising 17-year-old Aodhan Doherty who has been awarded his first professional contract until the end of the 2025-26 season.
