Last week's pleasing 6-1 win against Newry City has maintained Linfield's position at the top of the Premiership table. While it's far too early in the season for anyone to be getting carried away, hopefully recent positive results and performances can breed confidence and build momentum as the club approaches further vitally important games tonight and in the weeks ahead.
Welcome to Windsor Park to the players, management, staff, directors and supporters of Glentoran FC for tonight's hugely anticipated derby game against our cross-city rivals. The East Belfast club have won five, drawn two and lost three of their ten Premiership games to date and Warren Feeney's team will be looking to bounce back from their recent 2-1 league defeats against Coleraine and Carrick Rangers.
The Matthew Clarke Testimonial season is underway and supporters are encouraged to support the various fundraising efforts which are being arranged over the course of the season. Tickets have been on sale for the Europa Hotel gala dinner on Saturday October 14, featuring former Rangers' players, Alex Rae and Charlie Miller.
Kirk Millar was awarded the honour of captaining the side for his 400th first team appearance for this club in last week's win against Newry City. Kirk marked the special occasion with two goals.
Linfield manager David Healy will celebrate his 8th year in charge of the team next weekend. David has led Linfield to ten trophy successes in the past eight years but rather than dwell on past glories, he remains fully focused on bringing further success to the club over the coming months.
Along with tonight's game against Glentoran, two more Linfield games have been moved to Friday nights to be broadcast live by BBC. The games are away to Cliftonville on October 20 and away to Glentoran on December 1.
Linfield FC Women will conclude their Sports Direct Premiership season with away games against Mid Ulster on October 9 and Glentoran on October 13.
Season ticket renewals in the various categories can be processed via the online ticketing section of the club website.
The red away shirt worn in Loughgall and Coleraine has proved popular with supporters and can be ordered from the Online Superstore. The red shirt will also be worn at the Newry away game.
Sympathy has been extended to the family of Manchester City and England forward, Francis Lee whose sad passing was announced in midweek. Lee scored the crucial away goal in Linfield's 2-1 home European Cup winners' cup win against Manchester City on September 30, 1970 to ensure the then cup holders progressed to the next round on the away goals' rule.
Supporters are encouraged to donate generously to an official collection in aid of the club's partner charity - the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice - before tonight's game.
A kind donation from a generous supporter who wishes to remain anonymous has been of significant assistance with the publication of this 32 page issue of ‘Look at Linfield’. The sponsorship is greatly appreciated.
