“Linfield member Tim Branagh lost his father Austin Branagh in September 2021. He had spent his last few days in the care of the NI Hospice. And Tim was so grateful for the care that he received there that he wanted to do something in return. Thinking that sponsored walks are hardly a novel idea, he decided to put a slant on the fundraising event and also retain a link to his Father. Going back in time to his youth, Tim recalled the many years that they spent together watching Irish League Football. Austin was born and bred in Ulsterville Avenue and was a lifelong Distillery supporter but the many visits they made to Grosvenor Park didn’t prevent Tim from following the Blues. Scott and Pavis, Andrews and Cathcart among his first heroes. Tim decided that to remember his Dad and to support the NI Hospice, a charity close to our hearts at Linfield, he was going to unite all the Belfast Irish League clubs of his Father’s time by doing a single trek around the stadiums covering the Oval, Seaview, Solitude, Grosvenor Park, Celtic Park and finally Windsor Park in a single walk. This walk will take place on Saturday 5th August starting at 0845 at Stormont, Austin played a lot of his sport there and was the Chairman of the NI Civil Service Sports Association, and finishing at Windsor Park around 1430.”
