Swifts seal late extra time cup win

It’s been an eventful week for Linfield Swifts.

On Wednesday David Dorrian’s team sealed a Steel and Sons cup semi final win against Lisburn Distillery at Seaview.

Yesterday at New Midgley Park the Swifts made progress in the Intermediate Cup courtesy of a dramatic last gasp extra time winner.

Ewan McCoubrey gave Linfield a third minute lead before the visitors grabbed an 11th minute equaliser.

Gledis Cakaj put Linfield in front after 28 minutes and Mason King extended the lead after 40 minutes.

The visitors drew level with goals after 64 and 66 minutes - the latter from the penalty spot.

Jamie McDarby restored Linfield’s advantage after 72 minutes only for the visitors to equalise again after 82 minutes.

The winner for Linfield came in the final minute of extra time from captain Conall Murray.
