Officers and members of the East End BSC held a special 90th anniversary celebration function at the Royal British Legion on Montgomery Road in East Belfast on Saturday September 9.
The compère for the enjoyable event was the well known local broadcaster Ivan Little, with Linfield sports therapist and East End BSC vice-president Terry Hayes in attendance to mark the special anniversary occasion.
Among the Linfield players in attendance were club captain Jamie Mulgrew and his team mates Chris Shields, Matthew Clarke, Ben Hall, Robbie McDaid and Josh Archer.
Linfield chairman Roy McGivern presented an engraved Belfast crystal souvenir gift to East End vice chairman Phil Barrett and Stephen McKernin to mark the fantastic achievement of the 90th anniversary of the East End club.
East End BSC vice chairman Phil Barrett and secretary David Maxwell presented Matthew Clarke with a very generous donation towards his Testimonial season.
Club captain Jamie Mulgrew is pictured below with the chairman of the East End BSC - Billy Hamill and his 2 sons Alan and Phil.
The East End BSC Player of the year trophy (the Jim Cummings memorial cup) was presented by Ian Cummings and his son Christopher Cummings. The award winner for last season was Daniel Finlayson and in the absence of Daniel, the cup was received by club captain Jamie Mulgrew, with East End BSC chairman Billy Hamill also pictured below.
While the Jim Cummings memorial cup will be presented on an annual basis, a separate award is also presented for the winner to keep and East End BSC member Norman Davison presented the keepsake award to Jamie Mulgrew to be passed on to Daniel Finlayson.
A generous charity cheque presentation was also made on the night to Autism NI and receiving the welcome donation from Tim Branagh and Stephen McKernin was Keith Pyper from Autism NI.
In pride of place above the top table was the 90 year old club pennant which used to identify the club bus travelling in support of the Linfield team. To preserve the historical pennant, it no longer travels on the club bus.
Well known and stalwart Linfield member and secretary of the Matthew Clarke testimonial committee, Ivan Ogborn took the opportunity to present a brand new club pennant to Jim Gray from the East End club. The modern version could travel on the club bus.
East End BSC President and Linfield vice chairman, Stephen Dickson presented a signed Linfield shirt to East End member, Tim Branagh who recently undertook a charity walk around all the Belfast football stadiums.
In addition to club chairman and vice chairman Roy McGivern and Stephen Dickson, other Linfield directors in attendance included Stephen Shaw, Drew McCoubrey, Michael Jones, Paul Weir and Andy Conn.
After an excellent meal, Roy McGivern, Stephen Dickson, Jamie Mulgrew, Matthew Clarke and Ivan Ogborn offered congratulations to the East End club on the occasion of their superb 90th anniversary achievement.
Just under 100 club members and guests enjoyed what was a special occasion and event.
