Supporter memories

Hi

I have been going to Blues matches since I was 4 (that's now 30 years) and was a founder member of the Carrick True Blues supporters club. My first match I can just about remember. My Granda and my Dad (Sparky as everyone at Linfield will know him through starting the sing songs) took me along to see Linfield beat Coleraine 2-0 at Windsor. I remember them taking me to 3 different parts of the ground because the noise scared me. I think we ended up in the Old Olympia end terracing. To think we were getting about 15- 20,000 back then.

My most memorable match would be the European Cup tie against Panathinakos 3-3. What a night on the Kop that was. Just 1 game away from playing Liverpool in the Quarter Final. Who would have thought the Greeks would have come back the way they did.

Best match although would have to have to have been the 3-0 drubbing we gave FC Copenhagen at Windsor. Just a pity the Referee robbed us in the 2nd leg.

Cheers - Barry Clarke
