The annnouncement yesterday of the forthcoming match with Glasgow Rangers came just over 100 years to the day after a similar friendly game between the 2 clubs.
As Belfast and the world solemnly remember the tragic loss of life on board the doomed liner, the Titanic 100 years ago this week, it is interesting to note that just days before this disaster, Linfield and Rangers played a friendly game in Belfast.
The game on April 9, 1912 was a 1-0 win for Linfield. The only goal was scored by HOUSTON. The LINFIELD line-up was Kelly, Willis, Gibson, Darling, Stewart, Anderson, Thompson, Houston, Rollo, McAllister and McEwan.
